Where Only The Frogs Dare Go

Sativa Blue (1995)

This was a studio album featuring Elvis Johnson (drums), David Rosenthal (bass), Jason Moen (keyboards) and Justin Torpey (guitar & vocals) performing Justin's original material and some covers. It was released as a CD and sold at our frequent live shows in SF and around the Bay Area. The musicians all contributed financially to the making of this record and collectively still own the masters. Where Only The Frogs Dare Go was recorded on 16-track ADAT machines and mastered at Mr. Toad's.

Wednesday Night Showcase

Sativa Blue (1996)

This concert was recorded live at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco on June 5, 1996 using 16-track ADAT recorders set-up under the stage. This five-piece ensemble was a powerful band that played a lot of shows and featured the addition of Donnie Mucker on bass and Paul Sonnabend on congas and percussion. Wednesday Night Showcase was mixed and mastered quickly after the live show at Mr. Toad's and released as a second CD to sell at our gigs.

Rhapsody

The Justin torpey band (2001)

We started tracking this record shortly after the Maritime Hall show in 1996. We recorded to 2" analog tape and the project grew into 3 reels of all original material. The number of songs and all of the overdubs (keyboards, vocals, percussion, guitar) and special guests extended the project for several years. We eventually transferred the analog tapes to digital for mixing and editing. We made CDs and released the album as a 14-song LP in January 2001. Rhapsody features the superb vocal performances of Earl Thomas and Chick T.
